Residential Incentives
In 2009, the City of Gahanna approved a change to the existing Olde Gahanna Community Reinvestment Area (CRA #5) that allows property owners in the area to receive real property tax abatement for new construction or renovation of residential properties.  Under the program guidelines, residential property owners are able to receive 100% tax abatement for up to 12 years on the increased real property taxes.  The amount and term of tax abatement is based on the type of dwelling, total cost of improvements and potential increase of property value assigned by the Franklin County Auditor as a result of improvements.

  • 10 years for the remodeling of every dwelling containing not more than two family units and cost of remodeling is at least $2,500.
  • 12 years for the remodeling or expansion of every dwelling containing more than two units and cost of remodeling is at least $5,000.
