Big Walnut Creek Clean-up Canoe & Kayak Float

The Gahanna Community is invited to work alongside Parks & Recreation employees to beautify one of Gahanna’s treasures, the Big Walnut Creek. Several times a year as a result of flooding and littering the creek is full of unnatural debris and trash; along with exploring the creek during the float, participants will be cleaning up the creek.
Participants should be ready to work, wear old clothing and footwear appropriate for getting wet and walking in the creek. Parks & Recreation will provide basic equipment for cleanup, canoes, life vests, paddles and a light lunch at Creekside. Pre-registration required, activity is funded through a grant by theGahanna Parks & Recreation Foundation.

The Gahanna Get Moving Team and the family of Bob Toopes invite you to the 6th Annual SYC 5K Walk at Creekside Plaza. Proceeds support experiential education and recreation wellness opportunities for the Gahanna Community.

Zombie Apocalypse Redux

A strange virus is once again plaguing Gahanna and turning its inhabitants into zombies. In the second chapter of Gahanna’s Zombie Apocalypse, you will walk in the shoes of emergency responders as they try to suppress the virus before it gets out of hand. Along with other fun zombie activities, you will learn what is required of our local government, Hazmat workers from the CDC, doctors, the National Guard and individual citizens in emergency situations. This event requires registration through the Columbus Metropolitan Library. Teens can register at any CML branch or through the website at www.columbuslibrary.org beginning May 31. Veterans Day Ceremony

Deadline to purchase a Veterans Day brick is Oct 1.
Dedicated to all men and women who have served or are currently serving in the US Armed Forces. To honor those who have served our country, buy a brick to be placed at the Gahanna Veterans Memorial Park. Applications available at Gahanna.gov or at the Parks & Recreation office. The cost is $25 per brick.
A commemorative certificate is available upon request for an additional $2. Please visit GahannaVets.org for more information.

Paws in the Plaza
Gahanna Parks & Recreation has collaborated with the Columbus Metropolitan Library and Gahanna School students to present the Gahanna Story Trail. The new Story Trail provides and engaging opportunity for visitors to learn the value of being good stewards to the environment as they walk and read the story. "Following a Feather Friend" and original story written by: Juli Lindenmayer - Lincoln Highschool, Emerson Fry - Gahanna Middle School West, Rebekah Nolette - Homeschool, Carson Wolf - Jefferson Elementary, Kendall Hitler - Highpoint Elementary and illustrated by Gahanna students. The Story Trail is also a part of the Gahanna Library's Summer Reading Program that encourages families to engage in he outdoors through reading. The Story Trail is open when Friendship Park is open.
