Visit with Santa at the Herb Center!
Come & meet the jolly old elf, Santa Claus! Santa is taking time out of his busy toy-making season to talk with the little ones about visions of sugar plums, toy soldiers and ponies! As you walk up to the decorated North Pole Annex (the Ohio Herb Education Center) you will be greeted by Santa’s elves and helpers that will guide you to the letter writing station. You will then get to sit on Santa’s knee and pose for a special keepsake photo. Complete a picture frame that the children make themselves! Gahanna Story Trail
Presented by the Gahanna Rotary
Gahanna Parks & Recreation once again partnered with the Gahanna branch of the Columbus Metropolitan Library, the high school and Gahanna Rotary to make the Story Trail possible.
Reading can happen anywhere. That is the message being relayed in this year’s Story Trail on the nature trail at Friendship Park. The trail will open Friday, May 30 at 6:30 p.m. with musical entertainment by solo, acoustic guitarist Terri Kegelmayer. The community is invited to attend.
This year’s story, Little Red Riding Robin, was written and illustrated by students at Gahanna Lincoln High School. The story is considered a fractured fairy tale, or a story that uses common fairy tales and then changes the characters, the setting, points of view or the plot.
Funding for the Story Trail was provided in part by the Gahanna Rotary. “We believe the Story Trail will add points of interest to the Gahanna parks, provide a creative opportunity for Gahanna high school students and give young children an interactive way of learning to read a story with their families,” said Terry Hummel, Gahanna Rotary president. According to Hummel, the club is dedicated to giving back to the Gahanna community, and this is one way of providing “service above self.”
This is the third year for the Story Trail, the eco-learning component of Gahanna’s Herbal Trail and the second year of partnering with GLHS students.
