The Department is pleased to have received initial
survey data as a part of the update of the Parks & Recreation Master Plan.
The survey was completed in March and April 2013. Two thousand surveys were
mailed to a random sample of households in the City of Gahanna. 745 were
returned, a 37% sampling. See the initial results summary here.

Recreation Master Plan, to guide the decision-making process related to
programs, policies, operations, maintenance and capital improvements over the

||ODA Gypsy Moth Treatment Planned for Gahanna
The ODA completed an analysis of gypsy moth populations
throughout Ohio. Based on rising moth captures and/or egg mass counts
within the Gahanna area, the ODA concluded that a treatment was needed.
The ODA in cooperation with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA),
Forest Service/Forest Health Protection/Gypsy Moth Slow the Spread
Program, will be conducting a Gypsy Moth Treatment Project during the
months of May and/or June in the areas outlined in the map.
||Parks & Recreation Cancelation Policy
If the Gahanna-Jefferson Schools close due to inclement weather, all Gahanna Parks & Recreation programs, including those at the Gahanna Senior Center, will be canceled and rescheduled at a later date. Please call the Parks & Recreation office with any questions at 614-342-4250.
||Message from the Mayor
The voters have spoken on the current tax reform proposal, and with much disappointment, I accept their decision.
Much analysis of this vote will surely follow, by all sides of this debate. I believe there are many and widely varied reasons for the rejection of this specific proposal. In the coming days, we will continue to engage many different voices and opinions, and seek a positive path forward for our beloved community.
I am committed, as always, to working closely with city council, as together we have many difficult decisions to make.
||Gahanna Provides A Relaxing Way of Life Just Outside Columbus
Growing up in Hilo, Hawaii, Ava Misseldine whiled away her free time swimming and surfing in the Pacific Ocean. It was, she admits, the kind of sheer bliss that would make anyone envious.
But Misseldine found her personal paradise in Gahanna after opening Koko Tea Salon & Bakery last year. (Koko is Hawaiian for “sweet.”) The Mill Street emporium is filled with temptations ranging from triple-berry lavender cupcakes to lemongrass macaroons. Each is served with delectable brews sourced from her family’s tea company in Hilo.
