The Division of Streets and Sanitation is primarily responsible
for improvement and maintenance of streets, roads, and public
thoroughfares, with an oversight role for refuse pick-up, street
cleaning, miscellaneous clean-up, and dead animal disposal.
Staff consists of one superintendent, one foreman, five equipment
operators, and seasonal employees as needed.
The
division maintains 137 center line miles of streets and is responsible
for pothole repairs, crack sealing, berm repair, street and
traffic control sign installation, and repair and replacement
of traffic lights. Employees paint street edge and lane lines,

and ice.
Many facets of the City are directly enhanced by the work of the Streets and Sanitation crew. The Division is responsible for the placement of hanging banners, flags and holiday decorations. In addition, it is responsible for the placement of barrels and barricades for special events such as the Creekside Festival, Herb Festival, the Historical Society’s Annual Flea Market and the Holiday Lights Parade.
