Information Technology (IT) Operations

 

The Operations division provides guidance, security, support, and maintenance for all operational IT functions throughout the City.  We strive to create and provide efficiencies and value to citizens and City employees through the professional services we deliver.   

    • Fiber Interconnectivity and vendor management for GNET (miles of fiber)
    • Ethernet infrastructure within buildings (20 switches)
    • Wireless infrastructure for city hall, police department, senior center, golf course, hunters ridge pool, streets garage, parks garage, fleet garage, Hannah park, as well as links between various traffic signals and specialized equipment)
    • Enterprise Storage of 80 TB of data between 2 separate locations for disaster recovery
    • Virtually hosted servers (80 servers)
    • Virtually hosted terminals (25 view machines & 7 physical terminals) dispersed across 3 locations  
    • Physical end points (200 desktops and laptops) dispersed across 10 locations
    • Support for technologies in mobile units (22 police cruisers)
    • Telecommunications (266 phones) dispersed across 10 locations  
    • Business application configuration, support, maintenance (Rectrac, Cognos, Sungard, Sensus, Scada, Econolite, IMC, GIS, Coplogic, RSA, Netmotion, GBS, Daystar, Term Tracker, Faster, IMC, Avail, Safety Vision, ICOP, Audiolog, AMMultiview/Remoteview Log, XT911)
    • Network monitoring, security, and penetration testing
    • Jointly ensure PCI and LEADS compliancy
    • End point training and support

The City of Gahanna Technology Department is featured in a White Paper publication written and published by IDC Government Insights. The paper focuses on stabilizing and enhancing the city's mobile and remote user experience by utilizing virtual desktop technology developed by VMware, www.vmware.com. The technology improves end user experience and helps drive the city's operational costs down with an end result of higher workforce efficiency and operational cost savings.
