    The Department of Parks & Recreation is excited to offer this NEW Saturday concert and movie series at beautiful Creekside Park & Plaza! Come and enjoy Gahanna’s newest public gathering place—Creekside Plaza—while relaxing to your favorite music or watching classic movies.     Family Fishing at Creekside

    Come join us on Saturday mornings for family fishing at Creekside Park! Gander Mountain is sponsoring this FREE program and we are providing limited bait (food for the fish) & tackle (how we catch the fish). We’ll share all we know and even help to get the fish off your hook, if you’re nice! See you on the creek bank! Preregistration is encouraged.

    Urban Explorers Outdoor Program

    Meet at the Rotary Stage

    Cost: FREE

    Sponsored in part by Gander Mountain and Bicycle One, the Urban Explorers Program will introduce you to outdoor activities you may not normally get to try! This program is geared for those ages 16 and over, and will provide you with basic information about activities, introduce you to local resources, and work with experts to develop new skills. These are introductory classes meant to provide a quick overview (not detailed lessons) about outdoor activities in Central Ohio. Come dressed for the weather and your level of comfort.
    Please register five business days ahead of time so we can have enough equipment for everyone!

    Aug 14 6:30pm Bow Hunting Beginnings. Come let the experts introduce you to the equipment, rules, and how-to’s of bow hunting in Central Ohio.
    Sept 11 6:30pm Fall Fishing Finale. The season’s not over yet! Come ready to learn about fall fishing opportunities, equipment and secrets!

TeenFest gets bigger and better each year and 2008 is no exception…check out the events planned for this all teen event: Battle of the Bands; juried art show; teen and food vendors; video game competitions; and skate and bike demos.     Come join the Department of Parks & Recreation at our 3rd Annual Great Pumpkin Hunt! We will hunt for pumpkins and then drink cider and eat doughnuts while listening to fun fall songs.     Creepside Festival ’08

    Put on your costumes, dress up the kids and grandkids, and join the Department of Parks & Recreation for our 5th annual spooktacular event! We are so excited to be back at Creekside Park and enjoying all of the fall beauty along the Big Walnut Creek! This event is for children of all ages—and best of all…it’s FREE! Refreshments for all, hayrides, activities, and plenty of candy highlight this fun and safe activity. Come and have a Great Pumpkin of a time!
    Highlights:
    • Trunk or Treat - Join local businesses, the Gahanna Police, Mifflin Fire Department, and many others as they pass out candy at the event.
    • Activities & Games - Come try booling, digging for bones, our very own Madame Moonbeam fortune teller, jack-o-lantern toss, and much more!
    • Hayrides - Weather permitting, we’ll take a spooky trip around the Gahanna Municipal Golf Course (adjacent to Creekside Park).
    • Food & Refreshments - Apples and popcorn are just a few of the goodies we’ll provide.

    Creep, Crawl, or Run 5K

    COST: $20/person in advance, $25/person race day

    Join the Gahanna Youth Council at our 3rd Annual Creep, Crawl, or Run 5K! This family friendly event welcomes runners and walkers of all abilities as we creep and crawl, or RUN, RUN, RUN towards a healthy and hilarious finish. We encourage runners to come dressed in costume if they dare!!! Prizes will be awarded in multiple age brackets for males and females.     All proceeds from this race benefit the Camp Friendship Scholarship Fund!!!

    Learn about the many uses of herbs and how to cultivate, store and use them for gift giving. This annual celebration is free and features a wide variety of speakers and demonstrations. Sample a variety of herb-infused dishes including soups, teas, desserts and cheeses. Browse the facility’s one-of-a-kind gift shop and speak with herbal experts throughout the day.
