    1. What should I do if the power or water goes out?
    If the power goes out, please contact AEP to notify them of the outage. Interruptions to water service or sewer problems can be reported to the Service Department Division of Water and Sewer at 342-4440 during normal business hours (Monday - Friday 8-5). After 5:00 p.m. and on weekends and holidays, call the Gahanna Police Division at 342-4240.

    2. Who do I contact for animal problems?
    Contact the Gahanna Police Division at 342-4240 and ask for the Animal Control Officer.

    3. My family will be going on vacation. Can the police check on our house for us while we are gone?
    Yes, a Gahanna Police officer can check on your home while on patrol. Simply print out the Vacation Check Report form and send it to our mailing address listed under the general information box at the right side of the screen.

    4. My home/business has a security system. Do I need to register with the police division and are there any fees?
    Yes, an alarm permit is required by city ordinance. There is a one-time fee of $35 which is waived for residents 60 and over. In addition, there are fines for false alarms. The fine schedule is as follows:
    • 1st to 3rd false alarm  - Free
    • 4th to 5th false alarm  - $50
    • 6th to 7th false alarm  - $100
    • 8th and up false alarm - $250
    The false alarm count for your residence/business is set back to zero the first of every year.

    5. Where can I get a copy of a police report?
    Copies of police reports are available for $2.00 at the Records Division at Police headquarters. Police headquarters is located at the address listed under the general information box.

    6. How can I become a police officer?
    All applicants must obtain an information packet and study guide and pay a $10.00 filing fee at the time of filing the application. Application packets are made available once the next test date is established. When available, application packets can be found on the employment opportunities page. Applicants must also submit a personal inquiry waiver and a Gahanna Police Division requirements questionnaire.  Learn More

    7. How can I respond to the division about service I received from one of the officers?
    The Gahanna Division of Police is committed to providing the best possible police services to you, our customers.
