Boutique Shopping at The Fable Collection

Gahanna’s newest boutique, The Fable Collection, held its grand opening on Saturday, April 11, capping off three days of festivities at 171 N. High Street. Lead-up events included a highly anticipated fashion show on April 9 and a ribbon cutting on April 10, where the Mayor of Gahanna, Laurie Jadwin, applauded boutique owner Terri Birchler with a certificate.

“Last year during the pandemic, I searched extensively for high quality, stylish clothes at an affordable price. Department stores weren’t satisfying my taste or expectations, so I had an epiphany one morning to open a clothing boutique right here in Gahanna,” shared Birchler.

Inspired by Birchler’s concept, her family and friends strategically helped put the business plan into action. After much research, Birchler’s team settled on a name for this women-centric business – The Fable Collection.

“Every month we’re highlighting the real-life story of a local woman. Each highlighted person will assemble three distinct outfits that will be prominently displayed on our story wall. This collection of monthly stories brings both character and community directly into our boutique, giving shoppers a unique, heartfelt experience they can’t encounter anywhere else,” explained Birchler.

As a small business owner, Birchler is committed to helping fellow women discover and embrace their unique style to ultimately improve their self-confidence through custom wardrobe suggestions.

“We’re all cheerleaders here, and we want people to leave feeling great about themselves, no matter how they felt when they walked in. We’re literally cheering for our customers as they step out of our dressing rooms,” said Birchler.

Additional experiential elements The Fable Collection will feature include a book-sharing wall, coffee and conversation station, musical programming, fashion shows, and more. This broad array of experiences will target customers of all ages and backgrounds, reflecting the diversity of Central Ohio.

“As someone who has lived and worked in this area for over 20 years, I knew a community-minded fashion boutique would be very successful in Gahanna. We’ve already made fruitful partnerships with the Gahanna Lincoln High School and local sports teams. My goal is that every female in Gahanna comes to know and love The Fable Collection,” shared Birchler.

Customers can purchase Qualified Apparel items at The Fable Collection, a partnership program which donates 20 meals to Feeding America for each Qualified Apparel item purchased. This endeavor exemplifies the underlying social welfare goals embedded within The Fable Collection’s robust business model.

“It means so much to me to give back, especially to women who are struggling and need a hand up. Thankfully, the conversations on mental health are getting louder and more resourceful both in person and on social media,” said Birchler.

To visit The Fable Collection, on-street and off-street parking is available near 171 N. High Street, including the adjacent north parking lot along Carpenter Road. The Fable Collection broadcasts regular Facebook Live videos and hosts a website.

In early 2022, Ohio Plastic Surgery Specialists opened its business doors at 1085 E. Johnstown Road in Gahanna, relocating from its former location in Westerville. Housed in a stately, two-story building, the   medical practice is helmed by board-certified plastic surgeon Walter Bernacki, MD, who also works offsite as the head of plastic surgery at Saint Ann’s Hospital and Mount Carmel East Hospital.

“For the same reasons that my wife and I bought our first home in Gahanna, I knew that bringing my medical practice to Gahanna was the right decision. It was our dream to buy this building. Every time we drove our kids to school in Gahanna, we glanced over to admire this impressive building,” explained Bernacki.

Strategically situated near several hospitals and surgery centers, Ohio Plastic Surgery Specialists quickly built local awareness of its services and created more access for prospective clients.  On March 3, the medical office hosted a ribbon cutting and grand opening ceremony that featured presentations by Gahanna Mayor Laurie Jadwin, State Representative Mary Lightbody, and the Gahanna Area Chamber.

“Each week I see nearly 60 patients and perform about 20 surgeries. The in-demand nature of my services spans operations from trauma and reconstruction procedures to breast reduction, laser treatment, and body contouring,” shared Bernacki.

Supported by a staff of seven employees, Ohio Plastic Surgery Specialists offers flexibility in accepting varying forms of insurance and financing options. Dr. Bernacki often responds to emergency room incidents, giving him decades of empathic experience related to patient stress from unexpected or traumatic medical situations.

“I always prioritize safety first. Overall, my treatment philosophy underscores the importance of treating each client as an individual with unique needs and concerns. Although I typically treat over 3,000 patients each year, I know this volume of service requires close care and attention to every individual,” said Bernacki.

Ohio Plastic Surgery Specialists enjoys supporting the community through sponsorships of local youth sports teams along with making shopping and dining recommendations for Gahanna businesses to its robust client base.

“I’d love to start hosting monthly information sessions about different plastic surgery procedures, answering lingering questions to help curious individuals feel comfortable and safe. I approach each client with the mindset to determine the simplest and most affordable way to accomplish the change they’d like to see,” explained Bernacki.

Gahanna Raises a Glass and Welcomes Heart State Brewing Company

On March 25, Heart State Brewing Company held its official grand opening at 505 Morrison Road. The colorful, vibrant interior greeted new fans and longtime supporters in this multi-functional space.

“We’ve gotten to know so many people in the Gahanna area, and we have received a great response from the community,” shared brewery co-owner Max Unverferth. In late 2020, Heart State Brewing Company opened its production facility in Gahanna at 750 Cross Pointe Road, Suite J.

“We felt confident about doing business in Gahanna, so we chose to open a customer-facing location on Morrison Road, enabling us to greatly expand our production capability on Cross Pointe Road to meet growing demand. This expansion to Morrison Road is our way of saying thank you to Gahanna for being such a great place to do business,” explained Brad Ginger, Head Brewer at Heart State Brewing Company.

At 505 Morrison Road, patrons can enjoy a dynamic experience both inside and outside, taking in live music, billiards, ping pong, a beer garden, local art, and unique food trucks.

“Having a patio space really opens up the opportunities, and we’re excited to plan a variety of programming to make the best and most creative use of our beer garden,” said Ginger.

A growing number of Gahanna restaurants already support Heart State Brewing Company, creating another way for customers to experience this company’s eclectic brews. Signatures, Gatsby’s, Sexton’s Pizza, and Local Cantina are a few of the many regional spots that showcase Heart State Brewing Co. selections on tap.

“Heart State’s local distribution continues to grow, including Gahanna sites at Giant Eagle, 1837 Wine and Spirits Emporium, Cigara, and Metro Beer and Wine Drive Thru, among others,” said Unverferth.

The rapid growth of Heart State Brewing Company is largely due to its small, yet passionate, leadership team that boasts decades of experience in the evolving brewing industry. These factors culminated in careful strategic planning to ensure Heart State Brewing Company’s measured growth was benchmarked for incremental success.

Visit Heart State Brewing Company at 505 Morrison Road, where Columbus sports-themed company swag is also featured for sale.
