Question: can we at least get an estimate on how much it would cost to have full time police officer outside each school permanently? At least until someone pass real gun regulation. Give me the number and i will start a fund raiser.

TRASH PICKUP: With Christmas and New Year’s Day both falling on a Sunday, there are no changes to the trash pickup schedule over the next couple of weeks. Your current collection day will remain the same in 2023.

City Hall will be closed for the holidays on December 23, December 26 and January 2.
The Senior Center will be closed from December 21 through January 2.
Mayor’s Court will not be in session on December 29. Court will resume on January 5.

Thank you to all who joined us at our new future home at 825 Tech Center Drive for the 2023 Gahanna State of the City! Over 100 people heard from Mayor Laurie Jadwin on 2022 highlights and how Gahanna is framing the future for 2023 and beyond. Special thanks to Franklin County Engineer Cornell Robertson who delivered a Proclamation to Mayor Jadwin and Council President Renner for their collaborative work on the roundabout at Taylor Station and Claycraft Roads. For those unable to attend, a recording of the presentation will be shared within the coming weeks.

As students with the Gahanna Lincoln High School Theatre Department prepare for their upcoming production of Newsies, they, along with GLHS Drama Director and Teacher Cindi Macioce, attended Monday’s City Council meeting. That is where Council passed a Resolution recognizing and honoring March as Theatre in Our Schools Month!

Newsies will run from May 11-14!

As a part of Severe Weather Awareness Week, there will be a statewide tornado drill on Wednesday, March 22, at 9:50 a.m. At that time, the Franklin County Outdoor Warning Sirens will be activated once for three minutes. The test tone is the same tornado warning tone used in an actual warning.

TRAFFIC ALERT: On Wednesday, February 22, the west

TRAFFIC ALERT: On Wednesday, February 22, the westbound curb lane on Granville Street, near the location of the Columbus Metropolitan Library’s new Gahanna Branch, will be periodically closed between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. while crews from AEP replace poles in the area. The lane will also be periodically closed from 11 p.m. that evening until 6 a.m. on Thursday, so crews can transfer lines and reduce the disruption to nearby businesses.

For the past several months, the City has been working on updating its Comprehensive Parks Master Plan, which will guide the Department of Parks & Recreation in decision-making on policy, operations, maintenance and capital improvements over the next decade. On Thursday, February 9, Olde Ridenour Road will be closed between Chapelfield Road and Rugby Lane while crews repair a water line leak. In order to minimize disruption to travel and safely complete this work, the closure will begin at 8:15 p.m. and last for a few hours. The road is expected to reopen before the Friday morning rush hour. For detour information, please see the map above this message. At last night’s City Council meeting, Mayor Jadwin issued a Proclamation to Little Miss Black USofA - Ohio Jasmine Davis, a Gahanna resident, in honor of Black History Month and in recognition of the work she is doing to represent Black culture, her heritage and the City. Council presented a Resolution to Miss Black Ohio America Queen Indigo Stanley, also a Gahanna resident, which recognizes February as Black History Month and honors the contributions of African Americans in the City.

Do you find yourself throwing away leftover food after finishing a meal? Through a partnership with the Solid Waste Authority of Central Ohio (SWACO) and GoZERO, the City of Gahanna offers a way for residents to recycle food waste by utilizing a food compost drop off. A limited number of FREE waste collection buckets are still available for those who sign up and stop by City Hall to claim them. TRAFFIC ALERT: The westbound curb lane on Granville Street, near the location of the Columbus Metropolitan Library’s new Gahanna Branch, will be closed between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., from Monday, January 23 through Friday, January 27. We urge drivers to use extra caution as crews from AEP will be replacing four poles in that area.
