As we move into summer, I want to keep you updated on the ongoing efforts and initiatives that your city council is diligently working on. Your feedback, concerns, and contributions shape our community, and I’m grateful for the continued opportunity to serve you.

HIghlights of Actions, Projects, and Initiatives

  • Participated in an Ohio Municipal League webinar on Ohio’s Adult-Use Cannabis Law which provided updates since the November election and overviewed resident and local government rights.
  • Summary of May legislative actions:
    • Ordinance to approve the 2024 - 2025 School Resource Officer contract
    • Resolution passed to honor and recognize small businesses in Gahanna
    • Multiple ordinances authorizing supplemental appropriations for water meter fees, trailhead construction, and pond dredging projects.
    • Jessica Hilts appointed as Management Analyst I for the Council Office.
    • Acceptance of the final plat for Crescent Woods development
    • Adoption of the Franklin County Hazard Mitigation Plan

Received constituent communication regarding:

  • A request to recognize May as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) or Lou Gehrig's Disease Awareness Month. Although council did not have the opportunity to formally recognize this month, we look forward to considering for next year and thank the resident for raising awareness. 
  • Resident voicing support for 100% renewable energy we continue to explore energy aggregation programs.
  • Proposed Mother's Day resolution that was ultimately revised to this final version as result of community feedback.
  • Lack of connecting sidewalks at Pinnacle Pointe Place.  City Administration has been informed.  Resolution to this matter is still pending. 
  • Eliot Parc development highlighting their sustainability efforts as they continue their building project on Morse Road.

Recap of community events & activities

5/4: Celebrated Gahanna's status as Herb Capital, by attending Herb Day, an annual plant sale and various herb-themed activities and vendors.

5/11: Gahanna Lincoln High School presented the musical Something Rotten, displaying student talent and staff dedication and highlighting the importance of arts in education.

5/12: Spent my Mother's Day morning at local non-profit Motherful, where I had an opportunity to witness the free resources they provide to the community like a food pantry and legal advice.

5/15: The groundbreaking of 825 Tech Center Drive marked the beginning of construction for the city's new municipal complex.

Stay informed about what's happening in our community

  • Subscribe to periodic email updates from me and other city communications.
  • Attend meetings. Regular Council meetings are held  on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of the Month (or the following Tuesday if Monday is a City holiday). Committee of the Whole meetings are held on the 2nd and 4th Mondays. Both meetings begin at 7:00 p.m.
  • Receive agendas for council and board/commission meetings via email. 
  • Watch online. All council and board/commission meetings are streamed lived via the city's Youtube page.
