Mayor's Office

Gahanna has once again been recognized by Realtor.com as the #1 Hottest Zip Code in the U.S. for 2024!

Realtor.com compiled the list by analyzing the number of unique views each home listing in the “43230” zip code received, and the number of days a house remains on the market. The company also named Gahanna as the #1 Hottest Zip Code in 2023, and this year’s recognition marks the first time in the history of the list that a city has received the #1 ranking in consecutive years.

This unique honor reaffirms the desirability of our charming city, and it’s no surprise as to why Gahanna is a sought-after area in which to live — our diverse and affordable housing options, strong schools, high-caliber amenities, quality job opportunities, and a perfect blend of suburban peace and urban excitement. As we celebrate this special recognition for our city, we will keep working hard to be the community that people love - and want – to call home.

If you missed the big announcement on "Good Morning America," you can catch it HERE. (And they pronounced "Gahanna" correctly!)

City Council Office

The City is moving forward with Community Choice Energy Aggregation, having recently approved membership in the Sustainable Ohio Public Energy Council (SOPEC). The next step in this process is the formal adoption of SOPEC’s Operations and Governance Plan, which outlines the foundation for energy aggregation programming. The second Public Hearing on the Plan will be held at 7 p.m., on Monday, September 16, during City Council’s meeting in Council Chambers. All are invited to come and offer comments.

The Plan can be viewed at Gahanna.gov/CCA/.

Roundabouts

Engineering

Work continues to progress on the much-needed reconstruction of the Hamilton Road Bridge over I-270. This week, the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) is expected to close the ramp from northbound Hamilton Road to I-270 North. The ramp is expected to remain closed for the next several months. I-270 North will be accessible from Broad Street and U.S. 62. Please plan accordingly when traveling through the area. For more information and updates, please see “Latest News” at Gahanna.gov.

Economic Development

In August, the City was honored to join in celebrating the completion of a new 47,000 SF medical office building and surgery center at 680 Buckles Court North in the Crescent at Central Park. The building is home to Vive Vascular, Optum Family Practice, Trillium Surgery Center, Foot and Ankle Specialists of Central Ohio, and Ohio Ophthalmology. We are grateful to Dr. Krishna Mannava, Dr. Scott Gurwin, Dr. Aaron Wilson, and Dr. Deepa Reddy for their investment in Gahanna, and we welcome all of their physicians and staff to our community!

Public Safety

Earlier this month, Mayor Jadwin administered the oaths of office to the five newest members of the Gahanna Division of Police: Officers Jerry Brown, Daniel Gregg, Chase Carter, Nolan Goodman and James Jackson. Officers Brown, Carter, Goodman and Jackson come to Gahanna with previous law enforcement experience, while Officer Gregg is a recent graduate of the Columbus Police Academy. All five look forward to serving and meeting you in the community.

Parks & Recreation

Construction is now underway on the City’s new Mountain Bike Trail at Academy Park, bringing an exciting and unique feature to Gahanna!

This project began approximately seven years ago, when a group of local mountain biking enthusiasts approached the Department of Parks & Recreation with a vision for the trail. The City then began an extensive process that included evaluating the topography and environmental conditions of the site, working with the residents to visit other mountain bike trails in the region, researching the site, gathering input from other organizations as to how a trail could be developed on the site, and exploring options for outside funding sources to help support the project.

The completed trail will be nearly three miles in length and will feature a variety of elements such as humps, hills, banked turns and more. The trail is expected to be completed and open to the public by the end of October, weather permitting. Additional information on this project can be found at Gahanna.gov.

Information Technology

Using unique passwords for different websites reduces the risk of hackers gaining access to your personal information. If one website is compromised, hackers may try the username and password combination on multiple websites. The City’s IT Department shares the following tips to help you protect your sensitive information:

  • Refrain from using the following information, which could easily be seen on social media:
    • Pet names
    • Birthdays or other important dates
    • Cities you have lived in
    • Common words such as “password” or “welcome”
    • Family member names
  • Use a combination of letters, numbers and special characters.
  • Longer passwords are more secure.
