Hello Neighbor! March has been a productive month! From community conversations to planning for meaningful events like Juneteenth, I’m grateful for the opportunities to listen, learn, and collaborate with you. In this month’s newsletter, you’ll find updates on key initiatives, community concerns, and ways to stay engaged. As always, I value your input and look forward to continuing our work together

Highlights of Actions, Projects, and Initiatives

  • Facilitated Juneteenth planning committee meeting, continued sourcing talent and vendors, and met with Visit Gahanna and Parks & Rec staff to discuss collaboration and logistics
  • Hosted monthly constituent hours where the main topic on residents' mind was pedestrian mobility and community accessibility
  • Participated in the State of the City address, highlighting our shared accomplishments and vision
  • Engaged in conversations regarding potential mental health initiatives for our community this Spring
  • Connected several local business owner with Economic Development to explore expansion opportunities and resources
  • Addressed questions regarding sidewalk, lighting, and other maintenance issues at school facilities

Resident communication topics:

  • Donations for the Paperclip Project, a powerful initiative representing the 6 million Jewish lives lost during the Holocaust
  • A city employee who expressed appreciation for the continued inclusion of diversity, equity, and inclusion in city training
  • Concerns about sidewalk repairs for areas outside the city’s current sidewalk/street maintenance program
  • Concern regarding a city-initiated sewer project significantly impacting resident's yard
  • Inquiries about current and future programming at the senior center

  • 3/4: Participated in the panel "Common Ground, Greater Impact" hosted by the Central Ohio Belonging Consortium
  • 3/12: Attended the GJPS School Funding Conversation, advocating for fair funding
  • 3/18: Joined the Visit Gahanna Annual Meeting to celebrate tourism and local business growth
  • 3/20: Supported the kick-off of Gahanna’s Citizen Academy, empowering community members to engage with city government
  • 3/21: Attended the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission’s State of the Region event, discussing regional planning and development
  • 3/26: Participated in "Spread the Word Day" hosted by GJPS Extended Support Service to promote inclusion and celebrate the power of every voice

Stay informed about what's happening in our community

  • Subscribe to periodic email updates from me and other city communications.
  • Attend meetings. Regular Council meetings are held  on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of the Month (or the following Tuesday if Monday is a City holiday). Committee of the Whole meetings are held on the 2nd and 4th Mondays. Both meetings begin at 7:00 p.m.
  • Receive agendas for council and board/commission meetings via email. 
  • Watch online. All council and board/commission meetings are streamed lived via the city's Youtube page.
