Business Spotlight – COUG
The Central Ohio Urology Group (COUG), headquartered at 701 Tech Center Drive, opened one of the first ambulatory surgery centers in the world last fall. The robotic surgeries performed there allow patients to go home the same day as their operation, creating a valuable cost savings.
Gahanna’s COUG campus, which also includes a traditional surgery center and clinic, opened in 2013. The 38,618-square-foot building welcomed 83,360 clinic patients and 8,258 surgery patients in 2021. With over 140 employees, COUG has a tremendous impact on Gahanna’s growing economy, especially local small businesses.
“It’s great being headquartered in Gahanna as we’re so close to the John Glenn Columbus International Airport” explained Physician Liaison Brittany Carson, BSHCA. “Shuttle services and nearby accommodations provide a needed convenience for our out-of-town patients.”
In March, COUG hosted an open house, encouraging visitors to explore its facility and test the da Vinci Xi robot, which has performed over 65 complex surgeries through tiny incisions. Performing prostate and kidney cancer removal surgeries, outside of a hospital, has been especially comforting for patients during the pandemic.
More than 50 urological specialties and subspecialties are offered at COUG. In Gahanna, 24 physicians work together to provide back-up support in several specialties. COUG’s overriding values include teamwork, technology, trust, expertise, and a patient-first mindset.

COUG also has a second location in Gahanna at 620B Morrison Road, Suite A. COUG’s Advanced Prostate Cancer Center and Radiation Oncology Clinic operate there. In total, COUG’s Central Ohio network includes 15 locations that have collectively performed over 10,000 surgeries.
“We strive to provide quality outcomes, and there is a local hospital just 2.5 miles away, too,” said Carson. “We also partner with a skilled nursing facility to create a robust care circle for our patients.”
COUG is eager to support upcoming community events in Gahanna. It previously hosted ZERO – The End of Prostate Cancer Walk. A partnership with the Cancer Support Community of Central Ohio led to COUG hosting monthly healthy cooking and nutrition programs for cancer patients. All members of the community, not just COUG patients, can attend COUG webinars on topics such as pelvic floor disorders, urinary incontinence, benign prostate hyperplasia, and over-active bladders, among others.
