Many local Gahanna businesses have suffered devastating losses in the wake of COVID-19. Yet many have come up with innovative ways to conduct businesses and provide great service to their customers—all while adhering to social distancing guidelines. Jody Brown-Spivey is one of those business owners. Jody is the owner of Expressions Floral Design Studio.
Jody is an accredited—and renowned– floral designer who has helped to direct the floral design and pageantry of the Rose Bowl Parade in Pasadena, California for many years. Customers know her for her beautiful floral designs and her friendly French bulldogs- Jasmine and Violet (who often help out around the shop). Jody closed her shop for a few weeks when the pandemic initially hit, but she has reopened and added some creative procedures for the benefit of her customers and her staff.
“We immediately added e-gift cards to our website. They can be purchased in any increment and sent directly to their recipient, along with a card message, so that the recipient can purchase and/or receive flowers when it’s convenient and safe for them,” she said.
“We were fortunate enough to have a pick-up window in the store that was installed for the previous tenant. We asked customers to place their orders via phone or our website (working with smaller staff) to prepay. Then they just give us a call or knock on the window for their pick up.
“Just today (May 27), we were able to source and receive plexiglass to install at the register area, allowing us to be able to unlock our doors on June 1. We will be celebrating and by offering a few great specials next week on our website to thank our local customers!”
