The Gahanna Veterans Memorial Park is located at the end of Old Johnstown Rd. and Big Walnut Creek in Gahanna. The park was dedicated on Veterans Day in 1998. The park was built to allow for the placement of up to 20,000 engraved bricks honoring our local veterans of the U.S. military services. To date there are approximately 2,500 bricks placed and dedicated in the park. For more information on becoming involved with the memorial please call the Gahanna Department of Parks & Recreation.
The brick dedication ceremonies are held twice a year with event planning beginning several months prior to the event date. Each ceremony has a theme and the theme for the dedication ceremonies scheduled for Memorial Day will be announced by early April. The theme for the Veteran’s Day dedication will be announced in early October. Please visit the site often for updated information about the park.
Each engraved brick can have 3 lines with 16 characters allowed on each line. Spaces and punctuation are counted as spaces. Commemorative certificates are also available when you purchase a brick for an additional $2.00 paid at the time the brick is purchased.
