The City is filled with many nonprofit organizations that do amazing work for our community and our residents. Recently, Gahanna-based nonprofit organizations had the opportunity to apply for funds through the City of Gahanna’s 2023 Community Grant Program to support their projects and initiatives. New in 2023, the Program was created by the City to redistribute funds back into the community that were received through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). Applications were evaluated based on impacts to food and clothing insecurities in the community, mental health and support services for residents, and overall betterment of the Gahanna community.
In total, $50,000 were distributed to nine Gahanna nonprofit organizations, fulfilling all or some of their program funding request:
First Baptist Church of Gahanna (community garden to aid food insecurity)
Gahanna Ages and Abilities Partnership (healthy food options and program materials for youth center)
Gahanna Community Congregational Church (accessibility improvements to community garden)
Gahanna Convention and Visitor’s Bureau (addition of sensory calming kits for children with auditory/sensory issues during 2023 Holiday Lights)
Gahanna Residents in Need (GRIN) (new freezer to expand food offerings)
Make Gahanna Yours (community programs, including city-wide litter clean up events)
Three Creeks Church (Gahanna Gift Shop)
Wynyki Alston Foundation (community programs addressing depression, adolescent stress, anxiety, and suicide prevention)
Youth Excellence (mentorship program supporting GJPS middle school students)
Thank you to the many residents and individuals who are part of these wonderful organizations for their commitment to helping others in Gahanna!
