After more than three years of work in gathering community feedback and researching best governance practices, the City’s Department of Planning has finalized the rewrite of the City’s Zoning Code. The Code, which was written in the late 1950’s, governs such things as land use, architecture, building design, signage and more. The Code is being updated to reflect the needs of our city today as well as the community’s vision for future development. A draft of the new Code was recommended for approval by Planning Commission and was recently presented to City Council (click here to watch discussion). On Monday, March 4 and March 18, at 7 p.m., public hearings will be held with Council to allow residents an opportunity to share comments on the proposed Code. We invite residents to use this opportunity to have your voice heard and to stay up to date on this important code. Not able to attend? All Council meetings (including public hearings) are livestreamed on the City’s YouTube channel and can be viewed here at any time. We look forward to hearing from you!
