[ARCHIVED] Fire Hydrant Flushing

fire hydrant

Beginning Monday, April 15 and through the month of May, the Mifflin Township Fire Department will be flushing fire hydrants, east of the Big Walnut Creek, in the area shaded in red on this map. This is for preventative maintenance and to ensure the hydrants are working properly.

During this process, firefighters will open hydrants and temporarily let water flow from them. While this occurs, you may notice low water pressure and a brief discoloration of the water in your home. If discoloration occurs, run your water for about one minute, after which time the discoloration should disappear. You should refrain from drinking discolored water or doing laundry with it. We recommend briefly running your laundry machine before putting clothes in it to ensure the water is running as normal. If your water does not return to normal, please call the City’s Utilities Superintendent, Matt Jones, at (614) 342-4427.
