It is shaping up to be a fun and exciting holiday week in Gahanna! Please see the following information on the Independence Day Celebration, presented by KEMBA Financial Credit Union, and the Fourth of the July Parade, organized by the Gahanna Lions Club.
Independence Day Celebration
The City’s Independence Day Celebration will be held on Wednesday, July 3 at the Gahanna Municipal Golf Course.
- Gates open at 5 p.m.
- The music starts at 5:30 p.m. with Honey and Blue. The Wet Bandits will take the stage at 7:45 p.m.
- The fireworks display will begin at 10 p.m.
- You will be able to hear the soundtrack for the fireworks by tuning in to Rewind 103.5/104.3.
- Blankets and chairs are welcome.
- Weapons, pets, outside alcohol, fireworks, smoke bombs, sparklers and grills are all prohibited at the event.
- Bags and containers are subject to search.
Street parking will be prohibited all day, on Wednesday, July 3, at the following locations:
- McCutcheon Road east of Stygler Road
- Olde Ridenour Road
- Rugby Lane
- Highbury Crescent (hydrant side only)
- Chapelfield Road (hydrant side only)
These street closures will be in effect on Wednesday, July 3:
- Olde Ridenour Road from Chapelfield Road to Rivers Edge Way (beginning at 6 p.m.)
- After the fireworks, northbound Olde Ridenour Road from U.S. Route 62 will be closed to facilitate outbound traffic.
Fourth of July Parade
The Fourth of July Parade will begin at 10:30 a.m., on Thursday, July 4, at Clark Hall on Granville Street and head west before turning north onto North Stygler Road. The following street closures will be in effect from 9:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., on that day:
- Granville Street from Hamilton Road to Stygler Road
- McCutcheon Road east of McCorkle Park (only local traffic will be permitted)
**The Lions Club has asked us to share that parade participants are prohibited from using water guns to spray spectators. Additionally, participants are not permitted to throw candy from vehicles. Units must have walkers to distribute candy and other favors.**
Free parking for the Independence Day Celebration and the Fourth of July Parade will be available at the following locations:
- Creekside Parking Garage
- Friendship Park
- Veterans Memorial Park
- Gahanna Swimming Pool (after 8 p.m.)
- The public lot near The Gahanna Sanctuary
- High Street
- Jefferson Elementary
- Chapelfield Elementary
