[ARCHIVED] Gahanna Announces Pumpkin Composting and Political Yard Sign Recycling Coming Up

thumbnail_2023 Pumpkin Drop Off

In an effort to promote sustainability and reduce waste this fall, the City of Gahanna is partnering with Go Zero and Local Waste Services to offer two eco-friendly collection programs. From the last week of October through the last week of December, residents can dispose of pumpkins, gourds, and political yard signs for composting and recycling at Shull Park, located at 236 Granville Street in Gahanna.

Pumpkin and Gourd Composting with Go Zero

Gahanna has teamed up with Go Zero to offer a special pumpkin and gourd composting service. Only pumpkins and other gourds will be accepted for composting. This program encourages residents to drop off their pumpkin and gourds for composting rather than sending it to a landfill, helping to enrich the soil and promote environmental stewardship.

Political Yard Sign Recycling with Local Waste

With election season drawing to a close, residents will also have the chance to responsibly dispose of their political yard signs. Local Waste will collect and recycle signs, reducing the amount of plastic and metal waste going into the landfill.

Program Dates and Location

  • Dates: October 29 - November 1
  • Location: Shull Park (lower parking lot), 236 Granville Street, Gahanna, OH 43230

Special dumpsters will be placed in the lower parking lot at Shull Park. Signs will indicate which dumpster is for pumpkins and gourds and which is for political yard signs, making it easy for residents to participate.

For more information on these programs, please visit the City of Gahanna’s website or contact the Department of Public Service. Let’s work together to keep Gahanna green and clean this fall!
