The Gahanna City Council is now accepting applications for appointments to the Charter Review Commission. Terms for these seats will begin in January 2026.
Charter Review Commission (CRC)
Open Seats: Seats 1, 2, 3, and 4
Membership: Convened once every five years; last convened in 2021.
Compensation: None.
Meetings: Multiple meetings per month anticipated January–June 2026; possible additional meeting in November/December to certify voter-approved Charter amendments.
Duties:
The Charter Review Commission shall:
- Conduct a comprehensive review of the Municipal Charter in public meetings.
- Recommend any proposed Charter amendments to Council by July 1, 2026.
- Engage stakeholders including City officials, peer city representatives, subject matter experts, civic organizations, and residents.
- Hold 1–3 public input hearings to gather feedback from the community.
- Use consensus-building activities such as drafting, pro/con analyses, and comparative charter reviews to shape recommendations.
Note: Any proposed Charter amendments must be approved by Gahanna voters.
