SEEKING APPLICANTS FOR APPOINTMENT - PUBLIC ARTS ADVISORY COMMITTEE

Description: The City Council is currently accepting applications for two initial appointments to the Public Arts Advisory Committee (PAAC) pursuant to the Mayor’s Public Artwork policy effective May 1, 2024. The PAAC is composed of five members, which includes two members appointed by the Mayor, two members appointed by City Council, and one member representative of the Gahanna Area Arts Council. In accordance with administrative policy, the PAAC performs following functions:

  • Develops and manages the process for the selection of Public Art for display on city-owned property for more than 6 consecutive months consistent with the City’s procurement policies and procedures, including creating and using a singular, criterion based, double-blind evaluation process;
  • Engages Gahanna residents in the selection process;
  • Evaluates safety and maintenance concerns when considering Public Art;
  • Reviews and makes recommendations to the City’s Program Administrator regarding the approval of submissions to be displayed as Public Art on city-owned property;
  • Provides input to the City’s Program Administrator in the selection of site(s) for Public Art; and
  • Assists in developing and implementing promotion strategy, including public dedication event after the installation of Public Art.

Additional Requirements: PAAC members shall be current residents of Gahanna, free of conflicts of interest or potential for financial gain from either the project or the purchase of specific work of art by the City and be willing to sign a conflict-of-interest statement. This is a non-compensated appointment. Initial terms are anticipated to end January 2, 2026 and January 2, 2027.
