MAYOR'S OFFICEThank you to the many residents, vendors, and community and regional partners who joined us for the 2025 State of Our City on March 27! We were thrilled to welcome attendees, answer questions, and share insights into the projects and initiatives that are shaping Gahanna. From strengthening our local economy to enhancing public services and investing in our community’s well-being, our Gahanna is stronger than ever. This year’s State of Our City featured a video of 2024 highlights, a glimpse ahead to an exciting 2025, and a look inside 825 Tech Center Drive – the future home of the Gahanna Division of Police, the Gahanna Senior Center and City Hall. If you were unable to attend, we invite you to view the video on the City’s YouTube Channel, HERE.

FINANCEJust a friendly reminder to file your City of Gahanna local income taxes by Tuesday, April 15! Gahanna has a 2.5% income tax, but if you are paying taxes to another city where you work, you can receive a 100% credit for those taxes. The credit applies to whichever is lower: your Gahanna tax or the tax you paid where you work, but it cannot exceed 2.5%. Even if you do not owe any taxes to Gahanna, you are still required to file a tax return with the Regional Income Tax Agency (RITA). You can file online or download the forms to complete and mail them in, or you can drop them off at a RITA location. To get started, please visit their website: RITAOhio.com/Individuals/Home/File. If you have any questions about RITA, you can call them directly at (800) 860-7482. RITA will be offering extended call center hours, which you can find by visiting their website above and clicking on “Contact,” and then “By Phone.”

ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICESWe are excited to announce the installation of solar-powered compacting bins at Creekside, thanks to the Community Waste Reduction Grant that we received from SWACO! These innovative bins use solar energy to compact waste, allowing them to hold 5x more trash than regular bins – which means fewer collections and less environmental impact. With smart sensors, these bins automatically notify city staff when they are full, and staff can even check their capacity from an app. This improves both efficiency and response time for staff. Plus, we will be able to track real-time data on recyclables versus solid waste, giving us valuable insights into how we can continue to improve waste management in the Creekside area.
