MAYOR'S OFFICE

May is recognized as Mental Health Awareness Month – a time dedicated to increasing public understanding of mental health, reducing the stigma surrounding mental illness, and connecting individuals with the support they need.

In honor of this important month, the City of Gahanna and Gahanna Division of Police proudly hosted the inaugural Gahanna Mind & Wellness Fair on May 1. The event brought together 20 local mental health organizations and service providers under one roof, offering residents the opportunity to explore resources, ask questions, and begin open conversations about mental wellness.

Although the Fair has concluded, our commitment to mental wellness is ongoing. The Gahanna Division of Police has two dedicated Community Liaison Officers and a Mental Health Liaison who are available to connect individuals and families with mental health resources. If you or someone you know needs support, don’t hesitate to reach out at (614) 342-4240.

We’re also taking further steps to integrate mental wellness into our summer camp programs, thanks to a partnership with Nationwide Children’s Hospital. This year, our camp staff will be trained on how to recognize signs that a child may be struggling emotionally – ensuring our camps remain a safe, supportive environment for all. Looking ahead to early summer, we’re planning a special panel discussion for parents, focused on identifying mental health concerns in kids during the summer months – a time when changes in routine can often affect emotional well-being. Stay tuned to Gahanna.gov and our social media channels for details once finalized.

You can also find the full list of providers from the Mind & Wellness Fair online, as well as other mental health resource information, at Gahanna.gov.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

Last month, the City of Gahanna officially welcomed Burns & Scalo Roofing to our community as they celebrated the ribbon cutting of their brand-new, state-of-the-art Ohio headquarters, located on Tech Center Drive. Along with more than $8 million in new investment, this impressive 35,000 sq. ft. office and warehouse space brings 35 new executive and logistics jobs to our city.

As a proud and longstanding family-owned company, Burns & Scalo is helping to fuel local economic growth, creating new opportunities and strengthening our community through innovation and customer-focused service.

ENGINEERING

We are continuing our work in developing a Comprehensive Transportation and Mobility Plan. This Plan will shape future decisions surrounding road widths, lane configurations, speed limits, streetscape features (like street trees and enhanced bus stops), and elements that support safe walking, biking, and transit. Get involved by attending additional public input events and by visiting the project website HERE to learn more and share your feedback on the improvements you would like to see.

Additional engagement opportunities will be available at the Our Gahanna Vision Festival (see information above) and the Ohio Village Muffins vs. Gahanna Bananas game (see information below).

825 TECH CENTER DRIVE UPDATE

All utility work (water, sanitary and storm drain) has been completed, and the drywall finishing is being installed on the second and third floors of the building.
