Aquatics Programs
Gahanna Parks & Recreation is proud to offer a variety of high-quality aquatic programs during the summer months. Programs are offered at the Hunters Ridge Pool and the Gahanna Swimming Pool. Click on the program(s) below to learn more. Program scholarships are available for those who qualify.
Get comfortable in and around the water or refine your swimming technique with swim lessons. Lessons are offered through the American Red Cross. All lessons are 30 minutes long and are offered in blocks of six classes, occurring three times per week over two weeks or two times per week over three weeks starting the first week of June.
Group lessons are offered for swimmers ages 3 and up. All lessons are 30 minutes long and are offered in blocks of six classes, occurring three times per week over two weeks or two times per week over three weeks. Participants will be sorted into levels based on ability on the first day of classes. Prices are based on six 30-minute lessons per child. All group lessons will take place at the Hunters Ridge Pool. All lessons start the first week of June.

Looking for a one-on-one approach on learning how to swim? Look no further! We now offer private swimming lessons. Lessons are offered in 30-minute and 45-minute options and can be purchased individually or in blocks of four or blocks of eight. Lessons can be scheduled on the day and time of your choosing based on your instructor’s availability.

This program helps children between 6 months and 3 years of age become comfortable in and around the water. Participants will learn different support and holding techniques, acquire water safety knowledge, and practice skills appropriate for their child’s age. Only one adult is allowed in the water per child, but it is possible to rotate the adult throughout the session. Swimming diapers are required for participants not potty-trained. All lessons start the first week of June.
This program is free for pool members! Children age 3 and older must be listed on a current membership in order to receive free lessons. Those with children age 2 and under require a single membership for the parent/guardian. Children age 2 and under are not required to be listed on memberships and receive free daily admission to both pools.

This program is designed to give individuals an opportunity to experience the benefits of the water and prepare for the possibility of progressing into our American Red Cross swim lesson program. With the assistance of certified instructors, participants will work on their swimming abilities and comfort level in the water. These classes are taught in a non-competitive environment, allowing each student to progress at their own pace. All participants must be accompanied in the water by a parent or caregiver. Lessons will consist of a 30-minute lesson followed by 15 minutes of free time for water exploration. All lessons start the first week of June.

Gahanna Seahorse Swim Team
Refine your swim stroke, work on competitive swimming skills, and enjoy the friendly and supportive atmosphere of recreation summer swim team. All paperwork and payment must be received prior to participating in practice sessions. For questions, please contact the Gahanna Swim Team.
Prerequisites:
- Ages 10 & Under (Swim 25 yards Freestyle / Perform a 25 yard Kick-Drill)
- Ages 11 & Older (Swim 25 yards freestyle / Swim 25 yards backstroke)
Cost:
- $125 Pool Members/ $150 Residents/ $175 Non-Residents
- Volunteer Deposit $75 per family (refunded at the end of the season if volunteer hour requirement is met)

Porpoises Dive Team
Learn the basics or perfect your skills with our recreational diving team!
Prerequisites:
- Swimmer must be comfortable going off the diving board, swimming and treading in deep water.

Water fitness offers a low-impact, cardiovascular and resistance workout. Water fitness classes are great for all fitness levels as you can control your own intensity level. All water fitness class are drop-in and do not require pre-registration.
Water Aerobics
The low-impact, joint-friendly class incorporates various aquatic equipment such as water dumbbells and noodles to add resistance and intensify your workout. Whether you're a seasoned fitness enthusiast or just starting your fitness journey, water aerobics offers a refreshing and inclusive atmosphere for everyone. So, grab your swimsuit, dive in, and let the waves of fitness take you to a healthier, happier you!
Water Walking
Take part in some quiet pool time and get your steps in! Water walking alleviates stress on your joints while the water provides natural resistance. Note: this is not an instructor lead class.
Cost: Free for Pool Members/ Senior Center Members. $2 for Non-Pool Members/Non-Senior Center Members
