Snow in Gahanna

MAYOR'S OFFICE

In late 2024, the City launched Our Gahanna, a strategic planning process that will help guide the direction of Gahanna. The first round of community engagement is underway, in an effort to build on what makes Gahanna special and ensure that it remains a vibrant and thriving community for generations to come. We need you to bring your ideas and insights!

Throughout January, city staff and the 30-person Steering Committee will be facilitating Table Talks, a series of small group conversations. In addition, four (4) open-invitation Table Talks will be hosted for the community in general in January. A Steering Committee member may invite you to participate in a small group Table Talk, or you may participate in a general community discussion. All Table Talks will follow the same format, so choose the option that works best for you! The open-invitation Table Talks will take place at the following times:

  • Tuesday, January 7 (3 p.m.)
  • Thursday, January 16 (11 a.m.)
  • Saturday, January 25 (9 a.m.)
  • Wednesday, January 29 (6 p.m.)

All four Table Talks will be held at the Gahanna Municipal Golf Course Clubhouse (220 Olde Ridenour Road). Spots are limited, so please register online at OurGahanna.com.

If you are unable to join us in person, you can participate via an online survey available at  OurGahanna.com.

PUBLIC SERVICE

2025 Utility Rates

In 2025, Gahanna's utility rates will stay competitive within the region, remaining mid-range compared to neighboring communities. The City has implemented a 4.5% overall utility rate increase this year, which equates to an average increase of $4.97 per month for households using 4,000 gallons of water per month. The utility rates include charges for water, stormwater, sewer, and garbage/trash pickup and recycling. A breakdown of key changes in the utility rates for 2025 is included below.

Water Rates: Gahanna has not implemented any increase for operational or capital rates for water in 2025. At the same time, the City of Columbus has expanded its low-income discount to 25%, with increased eligibility. This means that more residents (including Gahanna residents) are eligible to participate at a greater discount. More information can be found  HERE.

Sanitary Sewer Rates:  The operational rate increased to $10.28/1,000 gallons from $9.18/1,000 gallons. There was no increase to the capital rate.

Stormwater Rate: The rate increased from $4.72 to $5.14 per residential unit, per month.

Garbage/Recycling Collections: There is no rate increase for services in 2025.

Christmas Tree Disposal

With the holiday season behind us, you may be wondering what to do with your tree. After removing your decorations, leave your tree at your curb on your normal trash collection day, and Local Waste will collect it. Please note that any tree over 5’ must be cut in half for Local Waste to be able to take it.
