Sustainable 2050 - Central Ohio Communities Working Toward a Better Future

Sustainable2050 is a regional and technical assistance program that supports Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission (MORPC) members in their sustainability efforts and is directly tied to the goals and objectives of the Regional Sustainability Agenda (RSA). Members earn recognition for their achievements toward the RSA through tier status certification at the Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum levels, which are earned by creating initiatives that highlight the following goals:

  1. Improve air quality and reduce climate change impacts to protect public health and the environment
  2. Protect and preserve natural resources to support a healthy and resilient region
  3. Improve quality of life for all residents by creating sustainable and equitable communities
  4. Promote robust, inclusive and sustainable growth and development.

The City of Gahanna has achieved Gold Status and is considered an equity champion, surpassing the required DE&I status. Sustainable2050 members are certified by MORPC's Sustainability Advisory Committee and recognized by the commission's board of representatives. The City was acknowledged at the board meeting on February 13, 2025, certifying the City's gold status.
